Masopust needs a King

Put on your dancing shoes. The festive Czech Mardi Gras, known at Masopust, will once again be held at the Montgomery American Legion for those wanting to party, be entertained and participate in the rich Czech culture.

From 1-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Montgomery American Legion, the party will offer Czech food, including pork and dumplings, music provided by "The Novotny Trio", a silent auction, the Domaci Czech Children Dancers, a costume ball, and a traditional Masopust skit.

The only thing missing? Candidates for a 2013-14 Masopust King to be crowned by current King Josh Skluzacek. Each year, a young man is chosen to represent the festival in area parades and events throughout the year. This year, however, as of press time, there are no candidates. Those who are interested may contact Jim Mladek at 507-364-5659 for more information.

This is the 13th annual Masopust, and sponsors are the Arts & Heritage Center, Lions Club, Aging Services for Communities, American Legion and CJays Czech Imports.
