May Day celebration moved to May 7

Due to cold weather, snow and rain forecast for Sunday, April 30, the committee organizing Montgomery’s first-ever May Day celebration has moved it to Sunday, May 7.

The event will still be held at the corner of Vine Avenue and First Street. The festivities will consist of raising of the May Pole, with music, dancing, traditional Czech food, and beer. Music for the event will be provided by members of the Czech Area Concertina Club and by Boogieland Entertainment. There will also be horse-drawn wagon rides.

The event is sponsored by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, The Montgomery Area Community Club, Golden Years Home, City of Montgomery (in kind), Edel’s Meat Market, Ruhland Electric (in kind), members of the Czech Area Concertina Club, Larry Jindra “DJ”, Mackenthun’s Fine Foods and the Montgomery Messenger/Suel Printing.
