Mayme Sevcik, 96

Mayme B. Sevcik, 96, of New Prague, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.

Born December 1, 1910 at Lonsdale, Mayme was a daughter of William and Agnes (Malecha) Tupy. She attended Immaculate Conception School in Lonsdale and married George T. Sevcik on September 11, 1928 in Lonsdale. She was a farm housewife until 1950 when they moved into New Prague. Mayme was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Council of Catholic Women and served as a cook at Queen of Peace Hospital for many years. She did a lot of sewing and quilting and was a great cook.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty (Henry) Bisek, New Prague and Angela Topka, Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband on December 20, 1983; a daughter, Georgina M. Gene Kratochvil; her parents; and a sister, Elsie Weishaar.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating. The reader was Beth Boyarsky (granddaughter), prayers of the faithful were offered by Ann Buckwold (granddaughter) and soloist was Barb Leuthe (granddaughter). Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale. Pallbearers were Mayme's great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Church.

Arrangements were with the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
