K of C Free Throw Contest on Jan. 24 The New Prague Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring a Council Free Throw Contest on Sunday, Jan. 24, from 1 to 2 p.m. The contest is open to all girls and boys ages 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. The competition will be held at the St. Wenceslaus Parish Activity Center. Youths may register the day of the event, registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. Anyone with questions contact Jack Stasney at 952-393-1043.

Suicide Grief Support to meet Jan. 26 Family, friends and anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide are welcome to attend the monthly meeting of the Suicide Grief Support Group. The meeting will be held from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Mayo Clinic Health System, 301 Second St. NE in New Prague. Please enter through the Emergency Room doors (southwest entrance) and take the southeast elevator (#2) to the lower level and follow the signs to the Jameen Mape Conference Room. Sportsman Club meeting on Jan. 28 The New Prague Sportsman Club will be having its monthly meeting Thursday, Jan. 28. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend, any questions please call Billy Bartusek at 952-758-8655.

Young Adults Ski Outing on Jan. 29 St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Elko New Market is holding a Young Adults Ski Outing Friday, Jan. 29, from 6 p.m. to close at Buck Hill, Burnsville. Enjoy a fun evening of skiing with Father Barnes and other young adults. Whether a person has never skied before or they are a pro, all are welcome to attend. Check-in will begin at 6 p.m. with a ski lesson at 7 p.m. Feel free to join the group anytime throughout the evening. Valentine’s Day Kids Kraft on Jan. 30 The Scott County Historical Society will hold a Valentine’s Day Kids Kraft from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30. Celebrate Valentine's Day with stories and crafts. There will be readings of Happy Valentine's Day, Curious George by N. Di Angelo and The Day it Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond. Children can make their own special Valentine's collages and cards to take home. The event is free, but registration is required. Offered on a regular monthly schedule, Kids Kraft engages children, ages 4-8, through pictures, stories and hands on activities. This program introduces children to museums, promotes reading, and incorporates fun, "old-fashioned" hands-on crafts that families can enjoy together.
