NAMI presents workshop Jan. 24

NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) presents a Hope for Recovery workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Savage City Hall, large Community Room, 6000 McColl Drive, Savage, MN.

Hope for Recovery is a family education workshop that provides families with information on mental illnesses, practical strategies for dealing with complexities of these diseases and hope for recovery. Community Band to resume rehearsals

The New Prague Community Band will start rehearsals Monday, Jan. 26, under the direction of Rush Wagner.

Rehearsals will be held most Mondays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the New Prague Arts and Culture Building (the former Armory) at 301 Lexington S.

Teens and adults from the greater New Prague area are welcome to join, and may do so by contacting Amy Eich at New Prague Community Education. 952-758-1734.

Lonsdale Golden Agers meet Jan. 27

The Lonsdale Golden Agers will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Crusader Civic Center.

Cards will be played and there will be chicken for lunch.

Serving committee includes Ceil Malecha, Jeanette Kes and Lillian Tupy. All seniors are welcome to attend.

CAP Agency sets WIC voucher pickup

The CAP Agency WIC voucher pickup dates for Scott County residents are the second Monday, third Thursday and fourth Tuesday of each month. Pickup time is from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at the CAP Agency, 712 Canterbury Road South in Shakopee.

Upcoming dates are Tuesday, Jan. 27, Monday, Feb. 9 and Thursday, Feb. 19.

Suicide Grief group meets Jan. 27

The Suicide Grief Support group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague. Enter through the Emergency Room doors, proceed to elevator 2 and take it to the lower level. Follow the signs to the Jameen Mape Conference Center.

Family, friends, neighbors and anyone who has been affected by a suicide death is invited.

Bloodmobile visits Jan. 28

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the KC Hall in New Prague from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Donating blood is an easy way to help others and only takes about an hour of your time
