Alzheimer's support group to meet

The Lutheran Home-Belle Plaine and its chapter of the Alzheimer's Association will hold its monthly support group meeting on Monday, Oct. 16, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at The Lutheran Home-Belle Plaine.

The support group meetings are free and open to the public. Anyone with questions may call Tammy Dvorak or Sarah Beckius at The Lutheran Home-Belle Plaine at 952-873-2215.


Mental illness support group is Oct. 16

The National Alliance for Mentally Illness in Scott County will hold its next support group meeting on Monday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. at the Valley Green Workforce Center, located at 752 Canterbury Road South in Shakopee.

This support and outreach group is for those affected directly or indirectly by mental illness (bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, etc.).

Senior citizens invited to harvest dance

All area senior citizens are invited to a Harvest Dance and Gathering on Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the St. Wenceslaus Parish Activity Center, New Prague. The afternoon will include old time music for dancing and listening, food, refreshments, cards and socializing.

There is a minimal cost at the door on the day of the event. Transportation is also available. For planning purposes, individuals are asked to reserve their spot or request transportation by calling Hannah at 952-758-1914. Registration is requested, not required.

This event is being organized by New Prague High School students as a service project and any proceeds will benefit a local charity.


American Legion Post 45 to meet Oct. 17

Charles Borak Post 45, American Legion, New Prague, will hold a regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Park Ballroom Clubroom.

Dues for 2007 may be paid at this meeting. Lunch and refreshments will be served after the meeting.


Legion Auxiliary have meeting Tuesday

The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #45 of New Prague, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday evening, Oct. 17, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Park Ballroom.

Effective immediately, the commissaries can no longer use store coupons of any kind. Any donation for the Drivers' Lounge at the VA Center will be accepted at this meeting.

The kitchen committee includes Jeanette Becker, Irene Bednar, Adeline Bisek and Gladys Busch.


Fibromyalgia Group to meet October 17

The Fibromyalgia Support Group will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Solarium at Queen of Peace Hospital, New Prague.

The group offers a confidential setting where individuals and families can talk freely about issues affecting their daily lives. The group's purpose is to provide positive common experiences for those afflicted with fibromyalgia and those who love them. Family members are welcome to attend.

Twin Lakes Sportsmen Club to meet

The Wheatland Twin Lake Sportmen's Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at the American Legion in Montgomery. Everyone is welcome.


Asset planning meeting is scheduled

Bruce E. Scott, attorney with the Scott Law Firm, New Prague, will present a program titled, Asset Preservation Planning: New Opportunities for All of Us
