AA groups meet regularly in New Prague New Prague Alcoholics Anonymous holds five meetings each week in New Prague. The organization meets at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 8 p.m. Mondays, 8 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. Fridays. Meetings are held at New Prague Alliance Church at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday. Alanon, for friends and families of alcoholics, also meets at 8 p.m. Mondays at Holy Trinity. Narcotics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at FaithPoint Lutheran Church (the former State Bank of New Prague building). Call 952-457-2389 for more information.
Habitat for Humanity to hold Brunch Oct. 6 New Prague’s chapter of the Habitat for Humanity will hold a Champagne Brunch and Live Auction 10 a.m. Sunday Oct. 6, at the Lakeside Supper Club, south of New Prague on Highway 21. As part of their 2013 fundraising campaign to build a fifth house in New Prague, Habitat for Humanity is also sponsoring a raffle for a playhouse. Ron McBroom is the lead sponsor of the campaign, with many other businesses, individuals and organizations contributing generously to this effort. Look Good…Feel Better meets Oct. 8 Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite and strength. It doesn't have to take away her self-confidence. Look Good…Feel Better is a free program that teaches beauty techniques to female cancer patients in active treatment. Participants will receive instructions and advice on dealing with the temporary appearance changes of cancer treatment and $250 worth of free cosmetics. This meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the Solarium at Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague. To register or receive more information, contact Public Affairs at 952-758-8956. Czech Heritage Club to meet Oct. 9 The meeting of the Czech Heritage Club will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at New Prague City Hall, 118 Central Ave. N. After a brief business meeting, special guests Marie Juzkova and Jakub Storek, exchange students from the Czech Republic, attending New Prague High School will share stories about themselves, their families and their homeland, and much more. People are welcome to attend.
Prairie Quilters meeting Oct. 10 The Prairie Quilters of the New Prague area will hold their next meeting from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at City Hall, 118 Central Ave. N, on the second floor. Sonja will demonstrate painting on fabric. They will have show and tell and a short meeting. Members should remember their name tags. For more information, call Reidun at 952-758-3596.
