Girl Scouts to host Nov. 18 story hour
New Prague Girl Scout Troop 1454 will host a Thanksgiving theme story hour on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the New Prague Public Library.
Children ages 3 to 6 are welcome. A craft activity and a snack will be offered at story hour. Those attending will be asked to consider making a small donation to the troop's charity, Feed My Starving Children.
The troop is also accepting non-perishable items to be donated to the local food shelf.

Car seat checkup event is Saturday
Families who may be traveling this holiday season will have the opportunity to get their children's car seats checked for correct installation on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at New Prague Ford/Mercury. Car seat inspections, which take 20 to 30 minutes per car seat, are thorough overviews and give families the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about correct car seat installation.
Parents, grandparents and others who transport children on a regular basis are invited to attend. Car seats are checked on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mental illness support offered Nov. 20
The National Alliance for Mental Illness in Scott County will hold its support group on Monday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Valley Green Workforce Center, located at 752 Canterbury Road South in Shakopee.

Alzheimer's support group offered
The Lutheran Home-Belle Plaine and its chapter of the Alzheimer's Association will hold its monthly support group on Monday, Nov. 20, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at The Lutheran Home-Belle Plaine.
The topic of the evening will be Tips for the Holidays
