VFW Christmas Party is Dec. 4

The December 4 meeting of the New Prague Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary will be a Christmas Party, with lunch being served before the meeting, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Lunch will be a potluck, with the meeting to follow.

St. John's Spaghetti Supper is Dec. 5

St. John's of Union Hill will host a Spaghetti Supper and Christmas Craft and Bake Sale Friday, Dec. 5. Serving will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the St. John's Union Hill school basement.

This is a matching grant fundraiser sponsored by St. John's Catholic Aid Council.

Tickets are available at the door.

Snowmobile trail fundraiser is Friday

The New Prague Sno-Drifters will hold its annual trail maintenance fundraiser from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the Union Hill Bar. Free beer, live entertainment and cash prize drawings will be part of the evening. Winners do not need to be present to win prizes.

Sno-Drifters breakfast is Sunday

The New Prague Sno-Drifters will hold their annual ham and egg breakfast Sunday, Dec. 7, at the K.C. Hall in New Prague. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or from local members. There will be a drawing Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, for cash prizes. Proceeds will be used toward the operation of the trail system.

Look Good... Feel Better meets Dec. 9

Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite and strength. It doesn't have to take away her self-confidence. Look Good... Feel Better is a free program that teaches beauty techniques to female cancer patients in active treatment. Participants will receive instructions and advice on dealing with the temporary appearance changes of cancer treatment and $250 worth of free cosmetics.

This meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in the Solarium at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague. To register or receive more information, contact the Queen of Peace Education Department at 952-758-8187.

Czech Heritage Club sets Christmas party

The Czech Heritage Club will hold its annual Potluck Christmas Dinner Party at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the upstairs meeting room at the New Prague City Hall.

Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass. Come and enjoy the evening.

Prairie Quilters to hold Christmas party

The Prairie Quilters will hold their annual Christmas get-together at the home of Katie Edwards on from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11. Members should bring the food item they signed up for, their white elephant gift and show-and-tell  items.

Growing Through Grief group to meet

The Growing Through Grief Support Group, designed to meet the needs of those experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one or those companioning someone experiencing loss, can help through education and peer support. Whether the loss happened recently or several years ago, this support group can help people through a lonely and frightening time.

The meeting will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, in the Solarium at Queen of Peace Hospital. To register or receive more information, contact the Queen of Peace Education Department at 952-758-8187.

Low Vision Support Group meets Dec. 11

Having trouble reading the newspaper or taking care of your bills? Vision Loss Resources facilitates a support group at Queen of Peace Hospital for individuals with vision loss. Participants will be able to meet others who are experiencing vision changes and learn ways to manage this loss, as well as gain insight, new ideas and see adaptive equipment that is available. Family members and friends are encouraged to attend.

The Low Vision Support Group will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, in the Solarium at Queen of Peace.

This support group meets at the hospital on the second Thursday of every month. To register or receive more information, contact Vision Loss Resources at 612-871-2222.
