Catholic Aid spaghetti supper is Dec. 7

The St. John's Union Hill Catholic Aid Association will host a spaghetti supper, Christmas craft and bake sale from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the school basement in Union Hill.

The event is a Catholic Aid matching grant event, and funds raised will be used to support the religious education of children at St. John's and St. Benedict parishes. All families and friends of the students are welcome to donate items to the craft and bake sale and to attend the spaghetti supper.

The public is invited, and tickets will be available at the door.


Service of remembrance is December 9

The sixth annual Ecumenical Service of Remembrance will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague. This service is open to all who have lost loved ones and wish to honor those individuals. During the service, each family will receive an angel with the name of their loved one on it. Living nativity program is planned

Community Baptist Church in New Prague will host living nativity presentations for the public on two separate occasions. The events will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sundays, Dec. 9 and 16, with presentations beginning every 10 minutes. Part of the program will be presented outside, so those attending are encouraged to dress for the weather. Each presentation lasts about 30 minutes. Ambulance Santa breakfast is Sunday

Members of the New Prague Ambulance Service will host their annual ham and scrambled egg breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in New Prague. This year's special guest once again will be Santa Claus who will visit with children about their wish lists. Pictures with Santa will also be taken.

This fundraising effort will assist the local EMS service in purchasing emergency equipment. Tickets will be available in advance or at the door.


Subway blanket campaign is Sunday

During cold winters, all Minnesotans need the warmth of an extra blanket. On Sunday, Dec. 9, Subway New Prague and other franchises in central Minnesota and western Wisconsin are collecting blankets to individuals and families in need.

Residents may bring new or gently used, clean blankets in good condition to Subway. In return for their donations, contributors will each receive a free regular six-inch Subway sandwich (one free six-inch sandwich per person, regardless of the number of blankets donated). Blankets that fit full- and queen-size beds are especially needed this year.


Lonsdale Golden Agers to meet Dec. 11

The Lonsdale Golden Agers will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Crusader Civic Center in Lonsdale. Bingo will be played, and chicken will be served for lunch. The lunch committee includes Mary Jean Sirek, Delores Kalina and Alice LaPierre. Seniors 55 years and older are welcome.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 15.


Czech Heritage Club party is Dec. 12

The Czech Heritage Club will hold its annual Christmas party at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, in the upstairs meeting room at New Prague City Hall. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass for potluck. All are invited.


Prairie Quilters' Christmas party Dec. 12

The Prairie Quilters of the New Prague will meet for their Christmas party at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the home of Katie Ferrell Edwards. Members are asked to bring their fat-quarter gifts and goodies to share. Members man also bring a show and tell project if they wish. For more information, call Reidun, 952-758-3596.
