NP Rural Fire Association meets Feb. 4

The New Prague Rural Fire Protection Association will hold its 74th annual meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the New Prague Fire Department meeting room at the Emergency Services Center, 505 Fifth Ave in New Prague.

Order of business will include the election of one officer, setting levies for 2013 and other business regarding the operation of the association. Refreshments will be served. Rural residents are welcome to attend this meeting.


Pheasants Forever to host youth fishing event

Scott County Pheasants Forever will sponsor a Youth Ice Fishing Extravaganza from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, on Cedar Lake near New Prague.

The group will gather at the northwest access of Cedar Lake between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

Golden Agers to meet Feb. 7

The Lonsdale Golden Agers will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Lonsdale Civic Center. Seniors age 55 and over are welcome. Lunch will be served by Irene Horejsi, Elsie Sirek and Marion Jirik and chicken will be served. For more information call Mary at 507-744-2608.


Divorce/Support group meets in New Prague

An area separated and divorce support group meets on two Tuesdays each month, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Church, lower level, 215 Main St. E., in New Prague.

Come and experience good support as you move through this time in your life. People of all faiths are welcome.

The next meetings are February 7 and 21.

Look Good...Feel Better meeting is Feb. 7

Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite and strength. It doesn't have to take away her self-confidence. Look Good...Feel Better is a free program that teaches beauty techniques to female cancer patients in active treatment. Participants will receive instructions and advice on dealing with the temporary appearance changes of cancer treatment and $250 worth of free cosmetics.

This meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in the Solarium at Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague. To register or receive more information, contact Public Affairs at 952-758-8956.


Czech Heritage Club to meet Feb. 8

The public is invited to attend the upcoming meeting of the Czech Heritage Club to be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the upstairs meeting room of the New Prague City Hall, 118 Central Ave. N. A program will follow a short business meeting. The guest speaker at the February 8 meeting will be Dave Minar of Cedar Summit Farms.


Prairie Quilters meet Feb. 9

The Prairie Quilters of the New Prague area will hold their next meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the State Bank of New Prague, 1101 First St. SE.

There will be a show and tell, a short business meeting, and Lana will demonstrate an origami bag. For a project bring two coordinating fat quarters (18 inches by 22 Inches) plus a yard and one-fourth of ribbon. A needle, thread, and scissors will also be needed.

Growing Through Grief support group meets Feb. 9

Designed to meet the needs of those experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one or those companioning someone experiencing loss, the Growing Through Grief support group can help through education and peer support. Whether your loss has happened recently or several years ago, this support group can help you through a lonely and frightening time.

The meeting will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the Solarium at Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague. To register or receive more information, contact the Public Affairs department at 952-758-8956.
