Rotary dinner to benefit military families

The New Prague Rotary will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, at the Park Ballroom in New Prague.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Ellen at 952-758-8381. They are also available at the door.

All profits will go to the Blue Star Families organization. The group, started in 2001, has helped military families in the community who have family members stationed abroad.


Le Sueur Co. Legion meets March 4

The Le Sueur County Council of the American Legion and Auxiliary will hold a quarterly meeting at Le Center American Legion Post 108 at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4. Post 108 and its Auxiliary will host the event.

Committee reports will be given. Included on the agenda are judging of the annual flag poster contest and a report on the annual clergy and religious dinner.

Legion and Auxiliary members of posts in Le Sueur County are welcome to attend this meeting.

Lunch and refreshments will be served after the meeting.


VFW Post, Auxiliary to meet March 5

Gopher Post 5145, New Prague Veterans of Foreign Wars, and its Auxiliary, will hold their regular monthly meetings on Thursday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the Park Ballroom, New Prague.

Lunch and refreshments will be served after the meeting.


New Prague seniors to meet March 6

The New Prague Senior Citizens Club will meet at 12:45 p.m. Friday, March 6, in the upstairs clubroom at the New Prague City Hall.

March lunch committee is Marcella Stepka and Lillian Tate. Anyone who is unable to serve should find his or her own substitute. April lunch committee is Muretta Prokes nd Irene Puncochar.

Buses pick up senior citizens for local shopping every Wednesday. The bus goes to Burnsville on the third Thursday of the month. For reservations call 952-496-8341.


Ducks Unlimited Banquet is March 6

The Tri-County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold their 14th Annual Banquet Friday, March 6, at the Park Ballroom in New Prague.

There is a social hour at 5 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. dinner. The evening also includes a silent auction, raffles and more. Tickets will be avilable at the door.

St. Wenc. dinner benefits 8th grade DC trip

An Italian Dinner will be held Saturday, March 7, at the Parish Activity Center at St. Wenceslaus School. One of New Prague's finest Italian chefs will prepare the meal, consisting of spaghetti and meatballs, breadsticks, Caesar salad, green beans, desserts and beverages. Serving time is from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling Lu Tupy at 952-758-4097. Proceeds will support the trip to Washington, DC, by eighth grade students at St. Wenceslaus School in April.


Viskocil benefit is March 7

There will be a spaghetti dinner benefit for Carl Viskocil of New Prague on Saturday, March 7, at the Montgomery American Legion.

Dinner will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m., followed by live music from 8 p.m. to midnight. There is a silent auction from 5 to 9:30 p.m.

Carl, the son of Ruth and Lloyd Viskocil of Montomery, is a 2007 graduate of Montgomery-Lonsdale High School and works for Paul Skluzacek Builders in New Prague. He has been diagnosed with Chondroblastic Osteosarcoma Maxilla, a form of bone cancer in his mouth.
