Car Seat Safety Clinic set in March

There will not be a car seat safety clinic event in March, but normal safety inspections will resume in April. The inspections normally would have taken place Saturday, March 15.

Since there is no clinic date in March, parents who need to have their car seats checked before the next clinic date on Saturday, April 19, may call 952-758-2530 to set up individual inspections this month.


Communities to hold Easter egg hunts

Area communities will be celebrating the upcoming Easter holiday with egg hunts for children.

The City of Elko New Market will host its annual Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Wagner Park. It is for children up to fifth grade. Other activities include Easter crafts; children will also receive coloring pages.

Wagner Park is located at the intersection of Todd Street and St. Mary Street. Parents are asked to register their children by calling Elko New Market City Hall, 952-461-2711, although they can also sign up the day of the event.

The Montgomery Women of Today members are also sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 15. The event will be held at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park in Montgomery. The park is located at Fifth Street SE. The eggs will be filled with sweet treats or special prizes. Children can also meet the Easter bunny.

New Prague Community Education's Easter Egg Hunt will be in New Prague at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at the playground area of Falcon Ridge Elementary School, 1200 Columbus Ave N. The hunt is open to pre-schoolers through fifth graders.

There will be 3,500 eggs spread around the Falcon Ridge playground. Activities will also include a petting zoo, and various emergency vehicles from the city of New Prague will be on display.


St. Scholastica breakfast is March 16

St. Scholastica Parish in Heidelberg is hosting its 30th annual country-style breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 16, at the church. Ham and eggs, potatoes, pancakes, sweet rolls and beverages will be served.


Alzheimer's support offered locally

The Lutheran Home-Belle Plaine and its chapter of the Alzheimer's Association will hold its free monthly support group from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 17, in the Hope Residence conference room at The Lutheran Home-Belle Plaine. Caring and Sharing will be the topic.

Twin Lakes Sportmen to meet

The Wheatland Twin Lakes Sportmen's Club will host its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the American Legion in Montgomery. The public is invited to attend.


Legion Auxiliary meeting is Tuesday

New Prague's American Legion Auxiliary Unit #45 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Park Ballroom in New Prague.

Plans will be finalized for a joint project of the Prairie Quilters/VFW Auxiliary and Legion Auxiliary. Minnesota's VA Hospitals are asking for heart pillows, lap and bed quilts and other items to be sewn for the veterans and wounded military personnel.

Scholarships will also be awarded at this meeting. The lunch committee includes chair Mary Ann Terwedo, Jane Oestreich, Claretta Schmitz and Helen Schoenecker.


Legion members will meet March 18

Charles Borak Post 45, American Legion, New Prague, will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, in the clubroom at the Park Ballroom in New Prague. Lunch and refreshments will be served.


Men's Slo- Pitch Softball meeting set

The New Prague Men's Slo-Pitch Softball registration and information night will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, in the upstairs meeting room at New Prague City Hall.

At this meeting, teams may sign up for the 2008 season and receive information on league play.

Info night for equestrian club planned

The Minnesota High School Equestrian Association (MHSEA) will hold an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the New Prague Library.

MHSEA is open to eighth-grade students through seniors in the New Prague schools. The group is looking for members to establish a local club as well as gain community support and school recognition.
