Car seat checkup event is Saturday

Statistics show that one in 10 car seats is incorrectly installed. Local families are invited to have their car seats checked on Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at New Prague Ford/Mercury. Car seat inspections, which take 20 to 30 minutes per car seat, are thorough overviews and give families the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about correct car seat installation.

Car seats are checked on a first-come, first-served basis. For further information, contact Diane Hrabe, 952-758-2530. The free checkup events are held on the third Saturday of every month. Sponsored by New Prague Ford/Mercury and the New Prague Ambulance Service, the checkup events are open to the public.

Food drive for Peace Center is Saturday

A food drive to benefit the New Prague Peace Center food shelf is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17. Residents are asked to have non-perishable food items or cash donations ready for pickup by youth from area churches.

Program on bipolar disorder slated

The National Alliance for Mental Illness will present a program on bipolar disorder from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, at the Valley Green Workforce Center, located at 752 Canterbury Road South in Shakopee. The support meeting will follow from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The National Alliance for Mental Illness in Scott County is a support and outreach group for those affected directly or indirectly by mental

illness (bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, etc.).

Alzheimer's group meets in Belle Plaine

The Lutheran Home-Belle Plaine and its chapter of the Alzheimer's Association provides resources and a free support group for community members whose lives are touched by Alzheimer's disease and other memory loss disorders.
