Lonsdale Golden Agers meeting on May 3 The Lonsdale area wide seniors (Golden Agers) will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, at the I.C. Civic Center. Euchre will be played. A supper will be served about 4 p.m. with Casey's Pizza and assorted sweets. All seniors are welcome to attend for a fun afternoon. For information call Don at 507-744-2408.
Beyond the Yellow Ribbon meeting May 3 Beyond the Yellow Ribbon South of the River will meet from 7-8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, in the lower level of the Prior Lake VFW Club, 16306 Main Ave. The group welcomes everyone’s ability to participate in their upcoming meeting and events.
VFW Post 5145 to meet May 5 New Prague VFW Post 5145 will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, at the Park Ballroom club room, 300 Lexington Ave. S. Lunch will be served at 7 p.m. Election of officers will be held. At the last VFW meeting $500 was donated to the New Prague Veterans Color Guard.
Day of Prayer to be held May 5 The 65th National Day of Prayer will be held locally at 7 a.m. Thursday, May 5, in the meeting room on the second floor of New Prague City Hall, 118 Central Ave. N. Christians of all faiths are welcome to join in praying for local government and the nation. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
Civil War Weekend at The Landing The Landing-Minnesota River Heritage Park, near Shakopee, will have a "Civil War Weekend" from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, and from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Sunday, May 8. Area residents can visit American Civil War encampments and see how Minnesota’s soldiers lived and worked during the "War between the States." Hear the roar of the musketry, or join the cause and learn how to march like a soldier. People can ride a horse-drawn trolley and on Saturday they can visit with President Abraham Lincoln. ENM City Wide Garage Sale is May 19-21 Elko New Market will hold a City Wide Garage Sale Thursday through Saturday, May 19- 21. Maps and addresses of the garage sale locations will be available on the city’s website (www.ci.enm.mn.us) one week prior to the sale.
