Senior Citizens meeting on May 6 The New Prague Senior Citizens will meet at 12:45 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the New Prague City Hall second floor meeting room, 118 Central Ave. N. The lunch committee will be Marcia Stepka and Henry Schindele. The bus picks up senior citizens for local shopping every Wednesday. The bus goes to Burnsville the third Thursday of each month. For reservations call 952-496-8341. All seniors are welcome to join the club for meetings and cards the first Friday of each month at 12:45 p.m.

Program set on ‘Failed 1876 Bank Raid’ The Rice County Historical Society is offering a 90th Anniversary Celebration event about the 1876 First National Bank Raid. The program will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10. Hayes Scriven, director of the Northfield Historical Society, will present a program on the infamous failed bank raid by the James-Younger Gang on the First National Bank of Northfield. Scriven will provide background on the history of the bank raid, and then focus on the forensic research and analysis that has been done, particularly on the skeleton in the Northfield Historical Society’s collection and its connection to the raid. The program will be at the Rice County Historical Society, 1814 Second Ave NW, Faribault. There is a small admission for non-members and is free for members. Preregistration is encouraged. Czech group will meet May 11 A group interested in the Czech culture will hold its May meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, at the New Prague Memorial Library, 400 Main St. E. The program for the evening will consist of a Czech language lesson with distribution of tickets to an upcoming Minnesota Twins ballgame to follow. Prairie Quilters to meet on May 12 The Prairie Quilters of the New Prague Area will hold their next meting from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at the New Prague City Hall, 118 Central Ave. N. Teri Polson will present the program for the evening. There will also be a "Show and Tell" and a business meeting. For more information, call Reidun at 952-758-3596. Youth Group gathering on May 15 A Youth Group gathering for those in grades 9 through 12 will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Nicholas Catholic Church, 51 Church St. in Elko New Market. It will be in the old school building on the St. Nicholas campus. A Youth Group gathering combines a nice blend of social and spiritual time. St. Nicholas youth look forward to every meeting. Come and see why so many teens enjoy gathering for a night out at the church. Teens from all over are welcome to attend.

American Legion Post 45 to meet May 17 New Prague American Legion Post 45 will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, at the Park Ballroom Clubroom, 300 Lexington Ave. S. Lunch is served at 6:30 p.m.

LGBT support group meeting May 26 The LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) support group meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1300 Main St E, in New Prague. Anyone with questions call 952-292-6758.
