Mayo Clinic Health System offers free asthma screenings Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague is offering free walk-in asthma screenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the medical center, 301 Second St. NE.

The 15-minute screening program includes a lung function test and consultation with an allergist to discuss signs and symptoms of asthma. Adults and children who may have undiagnosed or uncontrolled asthma are encouraged to attend.

Emotions Anonymous to hold summer meetings Emotions Anonymous will hold weekly meetings in Le Sueur. Emotions Anonymous is a 12-step organization. Its fellowship is composed of people who come together in weekly meetings for the purpose of working toward recovery from emotional difficulties. The organization starts its summer schedule on May 16. Meetings will be held 7 p.m. Thursdays at 600 South Fifth St., #209. For more information call 507-665-2644.

Lydia Zion speaker to talk about escape from communism At Lydia Zion United Methodist Church, Peter Vodenka will speak on his family’s journey of defecting from behind the Iron Curtain of Communist Czechoslovakia. This free event is from 11 a.m. to noon, Sunday, May 19. Free daycare will be provided. This is a free-will offering and lunch will be served. It is hosted by the women's and men's groups of the church.

Alzheimer’s Support Group not meeting for May The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine and its Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association Support Group will not be meeting on Tuesday, May 21. Anyone with questions, call Sarah Beckius, LSW, The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine at 952-873-2161.

The next scheduled meeting is for Tuesday, June 18. Therapeutic Respite Care is available for people’s loved one with Alzheimer’s/ dementia for the hour while people attend the support group meeting.

Legion Auxiliary meeting May 21 Charles Borak American Legion Auxiliary Unity #45 of New Prague will have its regular monthly meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21. Reports will be given on the results of the Third District Convention. A discussion will be held on the officers for the upcoming year. The Bar Committee for the May meeting includes Lois Solheid, Mary Ann Terwedo, Lucille Tikalsky and Laurie Tolzmann.

American Legion meets May 21 Charles Borak Post 45 of the American Legion, New Prague, will hold a regular monthly meeting at the Park Ballroom clubroom on Tuesday evening, May 21.

Election of officers for the coming year will be held.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Lunch and refreshments will follow.

Regional Grief Support Group meets May 21 The Regional Grief Support Group meets the third Tuesday of each month in the parish office building of St. Wenceslaus Church, 215 Main St. E, in New Prague. The next meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21. This group is open to all who are grieving the death of someone significant in their lives. All are welcome to get the support that is needed at this time in their lives. For more information call Deacon Bob Wagner at 952-758-2716.
