Bean bag tourney benefits SCHS

The Scott County Historical Society will hold a Bean Bag Tournament on Saturday, June 10, beginning at noon at Miller’s Tap, 114 West Main Street in New Prague.

Two-person teams can enter the tournament. There is an entry fee, with 100 percent payback. People can also enter to hit the bullseye for New Prague Czechs. Proceeds will benefit the Scott County Historical Society.

Hymnus to hold auditions

Hymnus Incorporated, a local choir made up of people from the New Prague area, is now accepting new members for their 2006-2007 season. The choir’s season will include a singing engagement at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 16, 2007.

Auditions will be from 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11, and 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13 at the Hymnus rehearsal hall, located in the back of 408 West Main St. in New Prague, behind Chameleon Coffee.

Call Mary Zard at 952-758-2181, or stop at Chameleon Coffee to schedule an appointment. Auditions will be approximately 15 minutes each, and people ages eight to 80 or older are invited.

Full rehearsals for Hymnus will resume September 5.

Vacation Bible School set at Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of New Prague welcomes area children to join them on Son Treasure Island, its Vacation Bible School June 19-23.

The weeklong event will be held at the church, at 1300 East Main St., and is open to children age four to those entering the fifth grade this fall. Son Treasure Island will be held each day from 8:45-11:45 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Students will take part in Bible stories, crafts, games, steel drummed music and tropical snacks as they hunt for God’s priceless treasures.
