Car seat safety checkup July 20 Parents from Scott and Le Sueur counties are invited to have their car seats checked for correct installation and recalls at a free monthly checkup event from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 20, at the New Prague Chevrolet dealership on Highway 19 east of New Prague. It takes roughly 20 minutes to check each car seat; no appointments are necessary, and walk-ins are always welcome. Grandparents, expecting parents and others who transport children on a regular basis are invited to attend. New Prague Auto Group and the New Prague Area EMS Association are sponsors of this event each month. Trained Child Passenger Safety Technician volunteers will check for car seat manufacturer recalls, provide educational handouts, answer questions and offer tips to drivers to ensure correct installation of all child passenger safety restraints. Golden Agers meeting July 23 The Lonsdale Golden Agers will be meeting at 1 p.m. at the Lonsdale Civic Center on Tuesday, July 23. Subways will be served. Cards will be played. The Lunch Committee is Nancy Wacker, Delores Kalina and Marion Sirek. For more information call Mary 507-744- 2608.

Suicide Grief Support Group meets July 23 The Suicide Grief Support Group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, in the Jameen Mape Conference Center, (Level B), at the Mayo Clinic Health System (Hospital) in New Prague. Enter through the Emergency Room doors (southwest entrance). Take the southeast elevator, marked "2," to the lower level and follow the signs to the Jameen Mape Conference Center. Family, friends, and anyone affected by a suicide death is welcome. No registration is required and there is no fee. Call Sally Schmid at 952- 758-4735 with any questions.

Run will benefit battered women The Chaska River City Days 5K Run will be held Saturday, July 27, with all proceeds donated to the Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women. The Alliance is a non-profit organization that has assisted more than 16,000 victims of domestic abuse in Scott and Carver counties. The race begins and ends in downtown Chaska’s historic City Square Park. Registration is at 7 a.m. with the start time at 8 a.m. For more information visit the website ChaskaRiverCityDays.com
