Senior Citizens meeting to be held Aug. 5

The New Prague Senior Citizens will meet at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the New Prague City Hall, 118 Central Ave. N, in the second floor meeting room.

The bus picks up senior citizens for local shopping every Wednesday. For reservations call 952-496-8341. The bus no longer goes to Burnsville Center.

All seniors are welcome to join the club for meetings and cards the first Friday of each month at 12:45 p.m.

Sportsman Club to hold family picnic Aug. 7

The New Prague Sportsman Club will be having its annual family picnic Sunday, Aug. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will take place at Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park, north of New Prague. Kids’ Craft Workshop at Scott Co. Libraries

Back in the early days of Minnesota, children made toys out of common household objects. At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the New Prague Library youngsters have a chance to turn an ordinary wooden spoon into a one-of-a-kind spoon person toy! This program is presented in partnership with Scott County Libraries and is funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage (Legacy) Amendment. Prairie Quilters to meet Aug. 11

The Prairie Quilters of the New Prague Area will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, at City Hall, 118 Central Ave N. This is the group’s picnic and will have show and tell.

Young Adult night at St. Nicholas on Aug. 11

All Young Adults are welcome to join Father Barnes at St. Nicholas Catholic Church for a Movie and Mojitos Night 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11.

The group will start out with a movie and snacks on the St. Nicholas campus and then take a walk down the block to The DoubleWide to discuss the movie. If you’re between the ages of 18 and 39, this invitation is for you.

It is part of South Metro Young Adults (SMYA)  Thursday Night Catechesis and Fellowship (TNCF).

Cedar Lake Park has Stand-up Paddleboard lessons on Aug. 12

Three Rivers Park District is offering a variety of paddling programs designed specifically for beginners, children, families and women. Be sure to check out one of the great opportunities and sign up today!

From 5:30-7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park, New Prague discover the fast growing sport of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), an exciting way to explore the water that offers a full body workout. Equipment is provided. Please note: The stand-up paddleboards available in Three Rivers Park District have a manufacturer’s recommended weight limit of 210-250 pounds. Beginner participants at or above the manufacturer’s recommended weight limit may experience difficulty standing or balancing while on the SUP boards. There is a cost and reservations are required. Geocaching for S’mores at Cedar Lake Park on Aug. 13

Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park, north of New Prague, offers from 9-11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 13, Geocaching for S’mores. Learn geocaching basics and search for delicious treasure in the form of yummy, gooey s’mores. There is a cost and reservations are required two days prior to the program. Call 763-559-6700 to make a reservation and reference activity number #347744-03. There is a 20 percent discount for groups of four or more. This program is open to all ages and children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by a registered adult.
