Life Line Screening to visit New Prague

Residents living in and around the New Prague area can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke. The complete screening package now includes a new Heart Rhythm screening which checks for irregular heartbeat, a major risk factor for stroke.

Life Line Screening will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1300 East Main St., on Saturday, Sept. 6. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m.

Lonsdale Golden Agers meet Sept. 9

The Lonsdale Golden Agers will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Crusader Civic Center.

Bingo will be played and there will be hamburgers for lunch. Serving committee includes Marion Skluzacek, Gladys Sirek and Alice LaPierre. Seniors age 60 and older are welcome to attend.


Look Good...Feel Better is Sept. 9

Look Good...Feel Better' for Female Cancer Patients September 9.

Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite and strength. It doesn't have to take away her self-confidence.

Look Good...Feel Better is a free program that teaches beauty techniques to female cancer patients in active treatment. Participants will receive instructions and advice on dealing with the temporary appearance changes of cancer treatment and $250 worth of free cosmetics.

This meeting will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the Solarium at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague, 301 Second St. NE. To register or receive more information, contact the Queen of Peace Education Department at 952-758-8187.


Czech Heritage Club meets Sept. 10

The Czech Heritage Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in the upstairs meeting room at the New Prague City Hall.

The program will be about Sokol. Everyone is invited to attend.


Low Vision Group meets Sept. 11

Having trouble reading the newspaper or taking care of your bills? Vision Loss Resources facilitates a support group at Queen of Peace Hospital for individuals with vision loss. Participants will be able to meet others who are experiencing vision changes and learn ways to manage this loss, as well as gain insight, new ideas and see adaptive equipment that is available. Family members and friends are encouraged to attend.

The Low Vision Support Group will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 in the Solarium at Queen of Peace Hospital, 301 Second St. NE in New Prague.

This support group meets at the Hospital on the second Thursday of every month. To register or receive more information, contact Vision Loss Resources at 612-871-2222.


Growing Through Grief meets. Sept. 11

Queen of Peace sponsors the Growing Through Grief support group, which will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m.Thursday, Sept. 11, in the Solarium at Queen of Peace Hospital, 301 Second St. NE in New Prague.

Designed to meet the needs of those experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one or those companioning someone experiencing loss, the Growing Through Grief support group can help through education and peer support. Whether your loss has happened recently or several years ago, this support group can help you through a lonely and frightening time.

Prairie Quilters meet Sept. 11

The Prairie Quilters of the New Prague area will hold meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, in the meeting room of the New Prague Library. The group will have organizational discussions and show and tell.
