Free car seat checkups are Saturday

Free car seat safety checkups will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, Sept. 22, at New Prague Ford/Mercury, just east of New Prague. The public is invited to take 20 minutes to get their children's car seats checked for correct installation. These inspections are thorough overviews and give families the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about correct car seat installation.

KC Auxiliary meets Sept. 24

The New Prague KC Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the New Prague KC Hall. The meeting will begin with Mass, followed by installation of officers, a pot luck supper and a short meeting.

Husbands and guests are welcome to join auxiliary members at this meeting. All current members and those interested in joining are urged to attend.

The State Auxiliary workshop will be Saturday, Oct. 13, in Shakopee.


Suicide grief support group is Sept. 25

The suicide grief support group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in the cafeteria (lower level) at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.

Family, friends, neighbors and others who have been affected by a suicide death are welcome. Call Sally Schmid, 952-758-4735, for more information.


Dollars for Scholars to meet Sept. 25

The Scholarship America, Inc., chapter of New Prague Dollars for Scholars will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the New Prague High School main office.

Area residents interested in becoming involved in this non-profit, local chapter are welcome to attend the meeting.


Steak fry and silent auction is Friday

The Church of St. Patrick of Cedar Lake will host a steak fry and silent auction from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in the church social hall. The steak dinner includes a 12 oz. grilled top sirloin, baked potato, coleslaw, green beans, garlic toast, dessert and beverage. A separate children's meal includes a hot dog and chips, along with dessert and beverage. Take-outs are also available.


St. John's German Fest is Sept. 30

St. John's U.C.C. German Fest in Faribault is Sunday, Sept. 30. The day begins with 10 a.m. worship followed by an all-you-can-eat German buffet, old-time music, quilt raffle, games, bingo, authentic costumes, petting zoo, Christmas store, bake shop, St. John's apple jelly and more. NAMI family support group offered

The National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota will hold KidShops this fall to support children ages 7 to 18 who have siblings or parents living with mental illness. The free program will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 1 to Oct. 29, at Christ Lutheran Church in Eagan.

KidShops are led by trained adult volunteers. The classes are free, but registration is required. Children are welcome to bring along friends. For more information, call Suzette, 651-645-2948, Ext. 102.
