Teen Challenge visits Heritage UMC

Heritage United Methodist Church of rural New Prague will host Teen Challenge on Sunday, Sept. 24, at its 10:45 a.m. worship.

People are welcome to hear testimonies and songs by men and women who share their faith-based recovery from drug and alcohol abuse.

A free chruch dinner follows.

Church cancels Germanfest

St. John's UCC of Wheeling Township, Rice County, has announced cancellation of Germanfest, which was scheduled for September 24. The cancellation is due to water problems.

The church plans to hold its annual Germanfest again on September 30, 2007.


CAP Agency holds WIC voucher pick-up

The CAP Agency WIC voucher pick-up date for residents of Belle Plaine, Jordan, New Prague, Prior Lake and Savage is the fourth Tuesday of each month. The next pick-up date is Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4:30 p.m. at the CAP Agency, 712 Canterbury Road S. in Shakopee. Suicide Grief Support Group to meet

The Suicide Grief Support Group will meet from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the Chapel at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague. The Jameen Mape Conference Center is still being remodeled. Queen of Peace is located on the corner of Columbus Avenue and Second Street, north of Main Street.

Those attending should enter through the Women's Health Center doors, the southeast entrance, through their lobby on the main floor and the Chapel is on the right.

Family, friends, neighbors and anyone who has been affected by a suicide death is invited. There is no need to register. Call Sally Schmid at 952-758-4735 for further information.


Franciscans plan blessing of animals

As part of a Blessing of Animals, Father Ken Bartsch will welcome dogs, cats, all creatures great and small - and their human friends - to the parking lot of Franciscan Retreats in Prior Lake on Sunday, Oct. 1, anticipating the Feast of Saint Francis on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

There will be a brief ceremony to remember people's place in God's creation and their fellowship with those pets who have befriended them. Franciscan Retreats is located at 16385 St. Francis Lane in Prior Lake.
