Melvin P. Doherty Sr., 7/3/1920 - 9/10/2013. Preceded in death by mother Margaret and father Anthony; brothers Cyril and Tony; sisters Annela, Dolores, Joan, Marge, Monica and daughter Susan.
Survived by wife Lilian of New Prague; Sons Melvin Jr. (Carolyn), Steven (Bernie), Dean; daughter Janis (Jim) Reams; step children Dahlea (Larry) Beno, Ernie Tietz, Terry (Pat) Tietz, Becky (Tim) Freeman, Steve (LeAnn) Tietz and Matt (Brooke) Tietz; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; sisters Mary and Helen; brother Patrick (Joyce) and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Prior Lake, Minnesota and raised on the family farm in the Prior Lake area, St. Catherine’s Parish. Served with honor in the US Navy 1942-1946 as a Machinist Mate 1st Class attached to the Seabees in the Pacific Theater.
Visitation was Monday September 16, 4-8 PM at O’Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home (575 S. Snelling Ave, St. Paul 651/698-0796) and for one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Funeral Service wereTuesday September 17 at 10:30 AM at O’Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
