Merle Warner, 86

Merle Warner, 86, of New Prague, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital New Prague.

Merle was born December 24, 1926, in Lake Crystal, a son of Samuel and Pearl (Evans) Warner. He attended Lake Crystal Public Schools and furthered his education in mechanics training in Mankato. Merle served in the U.S. Army from 1945- 1946. He married Joan Ward in Mankato on January 28, 1950. He worked at Miller Motors in Mankato and then became a dairy farmer and farmed for 59 years. He is a member of the American Legion and member and past president of DHIA (Dairy Herd Improvement Association). Merle enjoyed gardening, fishing, and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife; children Cheryl (Joe) Henning, Clarence Center, NY, Steve (and special friend Diane Enstad), Waterville, Susann (Tom) Miller, Morristown, Kenneth (Kim), Faribault, Merle Jr. (Kari), Waterville, Randy (Cheryl) New Prague, Lori (Greg) Hartmann, New Prague, Kristin (Earnest) King, Stafford, VA, and Jodi (Jeff) Wagner, Sauk Rapids; 28 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; two sisters Margaret “Sis” Nonnemacher, New Ulm, and Inie Spidahl, Madelia; and sisterin- law Myrtle Warner, Madelia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Lance Warner; and brothers Warren, Harold, Lyle, and Howard.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27, at 10 a.m., at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with the Rev. Jim Sawtelle officiating.

Burial will be at Minneopa Cemetery in Mankato, with military rites to be conducted. Serving as pallbearers will be sons Steve, Kenneth, Merle Jr. and Randy Warner, and grandsons Adam Hartmann and Erick Warner.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Bruzek Funeral Home.
