Montgomery resident turns 103

A Montgomery resident turned 103 years old on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Surrounded by family, friends and the staff at Traditions of Montgomery Assisted Living Complex, Mayme Jindra celebrated her 103rd birthday.

She wasn’t surprised she had made it to that point, however she was surprised at all of the people who celebrated her milestone. After everyone sang, “Happy Birthday”, Mayme blew out her three 1-0-3 cupcake candles and joked that she might need a couple tries to put them out. (For the record, one time was all she needed.)

Since the celebration was held after lunch, the staff served a sheet cake made in Mayme’s honor.

When asked what her secret to longevity was, she responded, “Stay healthy. Not wealthy, healthy.”
