Motorcyclist in Thursday crash dies
A motorcyclist injured in a crash west of New Prague Thursday evening, June 8, has died.
According to a news report, Thomas Willis Ely, 59, of Le Sueur, died Sunday morning at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale from injuries suffered in the crash.
The crash was reported at about 9:50 p.m. Thursday. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Ford pickup driven by a Mark Daniel Rieland, 39 of New Prague was westbound on Highway 19 and lost a load it was carrying. A Chevrolet Corvette driven by a Corey Matthew Swenson, 39 of Henderson braked and swerved to the right turn lane traveling Westbound. A motorcycle driven by Ely was also westbound behind the Corvette. He braked and veered right, sideswiping the Corvette. The bike ran off the roadway, ejecting the driver onto the eastbound lane.
The State Patrol, New Prague Police and Scott County Sheriff’s Office all assisted at the scene.
