MRC names all-conference athletes

 
Because of their excellence in their extra-curricular sports and in the classroom, many TCU athletes were named to Minnesota River Conference All-Conference.
 
The Titans and their sports are:
 
Baseball
The TCU Baseball Team had three athletes who were named all-conference. 
Ryan Iverson, son of Geoff and Peggy Iverson, led the Titans offense with a .421 batting average, hitting fourth and playing first base the past two years. He was a fourth-year starter and was all-conference last year too.
Pat Lloyd, son of Tim and Laurie Lloyd, hit lead-off for the Titans. He led the Titans with 17 hits while hitting .386. His coach Bruce Davis described him as a “very solid player at shortstop for TCU.”
Ted Christian, son of Brent and Angie Christian, was TCU’s #1 pitcher with a perfect 3-0 win-loss record. He did not walk a hitter in the Minnesota River Conference play and had a 1.53 earned run average with 16 strikeouts. His three victories were all complete games.
 
Earning honorable mention was infielder Cole Pint, son of Greg and Marilyn Pint. 
 
Softball
Two softball players were named all-conference athletes.
 
Left fielder Dani Angileno is the daughter of Vinnie and Lora Angileno. Dani has been a two-year starter and led her team with a .477 batting average. She had 19 RBIs with 21 hits and a .531 OB percent. She was among the leaders with 13 runs and a .659 slugging percentage. Coach Carol Lilla said Dani was a good defensive player and strong team leader with a great work ethic and desire to do well.
 
Third baseman Amber Brokl is the daughter of Dan Brokl and Sheila Brokl. Amber has been a two-year starter and was the third leading hitter with a .435 average. She led the team in runs scored with 15 and doubles with 8. She was second on the team with 17 RBIs and 20 hits. 
 
“Amber developed into a good defensive player in her first year at third base,” said Lilla. “She has a great arm and fielded at a .884 clip. She was a hard worker who pushed herself to improve.”
 
Earning honorable mention was catcher Coley Selly, daughter of Jerry and Ann Selly. 
 
Golf
The golfing Titan who made All Conference was Justin Ruhland (+30), who makes his first All Conference nod. He was a co-medalist at Le Sueur Country Club with Sander Stier of Belle Plaine. Ruhland is the son of Roger and Dawn Ruhland, and Kari and Doug Goldschmidt.
 
Earning honorable mention was fellow Titan Taylor Riebel, son of Dale Riebel and Angie Riebel. 
 
Boys Track and Field
There were no boys named All Conference in the Titan Track and Field Team, but Titan Marty McGuire, son of Dan and Marina McGuire, was named honorable mention for the 4x800m relay, the 800m run and the 4x400m relay.
 
The MRC boys track coaches named Adam Smith, of Montgomery who coaches for Belle Plaine High School, as the MRC Boys Track Coach of the Year.
 
Girls Track and Field
Edith Martinez, the daughter of Sonia Flores and Gilbert Martinez, was named all-conference for the TCU girls track and field team. Edith also volleyball and basketball and was four-year letterwinner in track. She currently holds the TCU high jump record for girls. She has a 3.95 grade point average.
 
Briana Berninghaus is the second Titan to be named All-Conference. She is the daughter of Lee and Molly Berninghaus. She also played basketball and was a three-year letterwinner in track. She is active in FFA, band, 4-H and WSCA horse showing.
 
Earning honorable mention is Katie Ellingsworth, the daughter of Steve Ellingsworth and Sherri Novotny. Katie’s events in track were the 800m run, 400m run, and the 4x200m relay.
