Mudcats make a move in DRS

Prior Lake’s bats came out strong, scoring 39 runs in three games as they propelled themselves into a virtual tie for the White Division lead with St. Patrick.

New Market remains unbeaten and is atop the Red Division, while St. Benedict holds a slim lead in the Blue division, where all four teams are separated by a game.

Mudcats 21,Warriors 11 After Veseli tied the score at 9-9 in the fifth inning, Prior Lake had a 12-run seventh inning to put away the Warriors Wednesday, May 21, in Veseli. Jake Lehrer was 5-for-6 with a home run, double and four RBIs for Prior Lake, while Ben Morrison and BJ Benz had three hits each. Zach Lovera took the win for the Mudcats. Eric Steinhoff had three hits and Mike Bartusek, Curt Brezina and Casey Berens had two each, with Brezina and Berens each getting a home run. Casey Berens took the loss.

Lakers 5, Coyotes 0 Faribault defeated Shakopee 5-0 in a league game played in Shakopee Wednesday. No details were available.

Saints 5,Warriors 1 The St. Benedict Saints defeated the Veseli Warriors 5-1 Friday night in Veseli. Jacob Wolf pitched five shutout innings for the win. Nick Heitkamp earned the save. Jeremy Heitkamp had a fourhit day for the Saints. Matt Novak had two hits, including an RBI single for Veseli. Matt Perkinson worked a complete game for Veseli, allowing just six hits.

Muskies 15, Bulldogs 4 New Market defeated Union Hill 15-4 Friday, May 23, at Union Hill. Nate Rost was the winning pitcher for the Muskies. David Stewart went 5-for-6 with a home run and four RBIs, and Kyle Bergstrom, Nate Rost, Mike Carpentier, Tyler Bergstrom and Jay Chlan had two hits each, with Rost hitting a home run. Bryan Lindner took the loss for the Bulldogs. Adam Gill went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs and Lindner went 2-for-3.

Orioles 11, Saints 9 Chase Buthe got the win and Dustin Steinhoff the save as the Orioles defeated St. Benedict 11-9 in a game between Blue Division rivals in St. Benedict Sunday. For St. Benedict, Wade Olsen went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, and Scott Eischens had a double and a home run, while Tanner Oakes added a pair of hits. Brendan Heitkamp took the loss.

Muskies 7 Warriors 1 New Market topped Veseli 7-1 Sunday in New Market. Matt Novak and Chad Krenik had two hits each for Veseli. Blake Radloff took the loss on the mound. New Market’s Scott Lyden and Tyler Bergstrom both went 2-for-3. Nate Rost had two RBIs and Dana Kiecker went eight innings, striking out six, to take the win.

Bulldogs 3, Irish 0 Union Hill defeated St. Patrick 3-0 in a quick nine-inning game that lasted only an hour and a half. Both pitchers were dealing. Josh Simon took the loss for the Irish, going nine innings, scattering seven hits, allowing three runs and striking out 10. Rick Bell picked up the win, going nine innings, yielding three hits and striking out five. Neither pitcher walked a batter. Union Hill scored two runs in the fourth. Adam Giesen led off the inning with a base hit. He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ben Trewartha and scored on a two-run home run by Adam Gill. The Bulldogs would add another run in the eighth on an RBI single by Giesen. Gill, Giesen and Jon Beckius each had two hits and Nolan Hodapp had one. For St. Patrick, Derek Isaacson, Matt Ambroz and Garrett Palmstein each had a hit.

Mudcats 7, Aces 6 Brad Schoenbrock got the win and Ben Morrison the save as Prior Lake defeated Lonsdale 7-6 Sunday. For Lonsdale, Justin Scheffler, Kevin Kalina, Lance Anderson and Aaron Kes each had two hits. Anderson took the loss on the mound.

Express 22, Mallards 0 Elko defeated Montgomery 22-0 in Montgomery Sunday afternoon in a league game. Glenn Parker got the win for the Express, with Steve Rosier taking the loss.

Mudcats 11, Orioles 2 Prior Lake defeated New Prague 11-2 Monday evening in the Oriole’s home park. No information was submitted.

Aces 7, Mallards 6 Lonsdale scored a run in the bottom of the 11th to defeat Montgomery 7-6 in Lonsdale Monday. Phil Tisdel got the win in relief, while Johnny Krocak took the loss. Matt Tschida, Jason Kirschman, Lance Anderson and Travis Scheffler each had two hits for Lonsdale, with Kirschman getting a home run and three RBIs.

Coyotes 7, Saints 2 Shakopee defeated St. Benedict 7-2 Monday at St. Benedict. Ben Lazzari was the winning pitcher, with Steve Weiers taking the loss. The Saints’ Nick Heikamp and Wade Olsen each had two hits, with Olsen getting two RBIs.

Sox 9,Warriors 3 Webster defeated Veseli 9- 3 in Veseli Monday afternoon. Jason Nelson had three hits and three RBIs for the Sox, while Nate Nielson had four hits and John Barten two. Nielson pitched a complete game win for Webster. Veseli was led by Curt Brezina with a double and Jason Kazlauskas and Eric Steinhoff with RBIs. Brezina took the loss, going six innings
