Myles Kucera, 95

Myles R. Kucera, 95, of New Prague, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at the Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.

He was born January 6, 1915, in New Prague, a son of Thomas and Josephine (Prochaska) Kucera. A lifelong resident of New Prague, he attended St. Wenceslaus School and New Prague High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. Myles married Dorothy Fitzke on June 3, 1946, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 34 years and also farmed for 64 years. Myles was a member of the New Prague American Legion and VFW posts.

He is survived by his wife; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Lewis Kucera and Alice Fitzke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m., at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.

Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers will be Joel Tupy, David Tupy, Dan Fitzke, Brad Solheid, Tom Fitzke, David Solheid and Gene Tupy. Honorary casket bearers will be Joe Soukup, Walter Kohoutek and Glen Chalupsky.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Bruzek Funeral Home.
