Myron Fredrickson, 80

Myron Fredrickson, 80, of Elko, died Saturday, May 29, 2010.

He was born August 18, 1929, in Greenvale Township, Rice County, to Soren and Ruth (Rud) Fredrickson. He attended country school houses in Northfield, Elko and Webster through the eighth grade. Myron married Donna Vick on January 21, 1950, at the Scott County Courthouse in Shakopee. Myron started and ran his own concrete business for most of his working years, giving employment to several hundred people over the years.

Myron's great passions were his wife Donna, who preceded him in death on December 13, 2001, his six children, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and of course, baseball. Myron often said his most cherished friendships were those he cultivated while managing baseball teams. He started and managed the Webster Baseball Team from 1951 to 1967. He was instrumental in bringing a baseball team to the City of Elko and managed that team from 1968 to 1973. The Elko team has flourished to this day with the foundation Myron helped establish. He remained the team's number one fan until the day he died. He helped found the Elko Commercial Club and N.E.W. Lions Club. Myron will be buried next to his wife of 52 years.

Myron is survived by his children Keith (Kathy) Fredrickson, Sheila (Jerry) Stanton, Terrance (Debbie) Fredrickson, Connie (Curt) Grisim, Bradley Fredrickson, and Brian Fredrickson; along with 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arlene Howie.

He was preceded by his wife, Donna; parents; brother, Reynold; and sister, Gloria.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Christiania Lutheran Church, 26691 Pillsbury Ave., Lakeville. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 1 at the White Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at East Christiania Cemetery.
