Myrtle Teply, 88

Myrtle Hulda Teply, 88, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Le Center, died at the Chula Vista Care Center in Mesa on Tuesday, April 1, 2008.

She was born April 25, 1919, in Waseca County, a daughter of Ole and Frieda (Ristau) Iverson. She graduated from Waseca High School and St. Luke's School of Nursing in Faribault. Myrtle was a registered nurse and worked at New Prague, St. Peter and Le Sueur hospitals until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery. Myrtle married Archie J. Teply on May 17, 1941, at North Waseca Lutheran Church. They farmed near Le Center until 1949 when they purchased and operated the Green Lantern Resort at Lexington until 1959. She was also the bookkeeper for the Archie Teply Construction Co.

She is survived by a daughter Janet (Donald) Lawrence, Crosby; a son Donald Teply (and partner David Hamdan), Mesa, AZ; grandchildren Crescent (Bryan) Hoffman, Brendon (Jill) Lawrence, Blaine (Suzanne) Teply, Bryce (Tamarie) Teply and Celeste (Clint) Kaseburg; great-grandchildren Madeline and Bryn Hoffman, Weston and Chase Lawrence, Serandan, Meaghan and Adrian Teply, Hannah, Abby and Shaelyn Teply and Caroline Kaseburg; a sister Helen (Alvin) Schultz, Owatonna; sisters-in-law Thelma Iverson, Norfolk, VA and Mary Iverson, Shohola, PA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband on November 17, 1993; her parents; brothers Reuben and Marvin; daughter-in-law Elaine; and grandson Brett Teply.

Memorial services will be held Friday, April 25, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery.

Interment will be at the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague.
