Nearly 2 tons of food collected during community-wide drive

One ton-2,000 pounds of food. That was what Tami Madsen and Connie Bartelt were hoping for during a community-wide food drive held in February.
Their efforts, and those of countless volunteers in the community, paid off in a big way. The food drive collected nearly double its goal, as 3,821 pounds of food was donated to the Peace Center in New Prague Monday, March 5.
Madsen and Bartelt organized the event that had schools, businesses and other organizations participating. They mentioned that the final total still isn't known, since people are still bringing in donations
In addition to the food, cash donations of $566 were also collected for the campaign that ran through February. The donations were brought in to the Peace Center in March since it is Food Share Month.
We're pretty passionate about it
