New Community Services Director takes the reins

Chuck Kajer, Managing Editor

The coming week should prove to be a busy one for Amy Eich, who has taken the reins as Community Services Director for the New Prague Area Schools. She takes over for Steve Bruchman, who retired July 1.

Eich, who had previously been Learning Services Manager with the Community Education department in the Rosemount-Apple Valley School District, oversaw the mailing of the fall Community Education brochure Tuesday. With area residents getting the brochure in the mail Wednesday and Thursday, Eich will get a chance to see which programs are in demand and get an idea of possible offerings for the future.

In her previous job, Eich supervised adult and youth community Education programs, including trips and tours, programs for adults with disabilities and special projects within the schools, such as the all-day kindergarten program. She had been in that job for six years.

Prior to that, the former classroom teacher worked in the private sector, managing the training and education departments for Ellert and Associates in Stillwater and Agris, a division of John Deere, based in Eagan.

Eich says there are a lot of things that are appealing about working in community education.

I enjoy the daily contact with the people we're serving
