New manager is ready for golf season to start

By Chuck Kajer

Kurt Ruehling is ready to start the 2005 golf season.

The PGA Professional is the new general manager at the New Prague Golf club, having taken over in January for Scott Proshek, who resigned after 25 years at the city-owned golf course.

The course is scheduled to open late this week, possibly on Friday, depending on the weather.

Ruehling is a New Prague native, the son of Jackie and the late Dave Ruehling. He graduated from New Prague High School in 1987. He became a PGA Golf Professional in 1998, and has worked in the golf business since 1990. He spent the last five years as head professional at the Le Sueur Country Club. Before that, he was head professional at the Montgomery Golf Club for two years and an assistant pro at Le Sueur for eight.

Ruehling’s new job is a homecoming of sorts, since it was where he learned the game and where he got his first golf course job. I learned the game right here
