New Market, Lonsdale council seats up for election

The cities of New Market and Lonsdale have city council elections on the ballot for November 8, and the filing period for those elections got underway Tuesday, Aug. 30. Filings can be made at the respective city offices until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13. Filing fee is $2.

New Market

There are three council seats and the mayoral seat on the ballot in New Market. The 2-year term of Mayor Jim Friedges, the 4-year terms of Tom Michaud and Curt Sticha and the 2-year term of Jason Ponsonby expire at the end of the year.
