New Market Township blood drive collects 72 units

Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

There were 72 units of blood collected at the American Red Cross blood drive at the New Market Township Hall Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Sponsored by the NEW Lions, the event drew donors from the township as well as the cities of Webster and Elko New Market.

Leone Henry, who helped with the event, said the drive was in memory of Ron Ronnie Anderson of Lonsdale who was in a crash October 5 in Lakeville. On his way to work, he swerved to avoid a garbage truck and hit a telephone pole. He checked the damage to his car and was struck by a vehicle as he was getting back in his car. A co-worker was with him and called for help. Anderson was taken to Regions Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, Anderson has had both of his legs partially amputated and has undergone several other surgeries.
