New Market Twp. supervisor will face challenge on ballot

Former New Market Township supervisor Joel Helmberger will challenge incumbent LeRoy Clausen for a three-year term on the New Market Township Board of Supervisors. The two-week filing period for township elections ended Tuesday, Jan. 13.

David Frame, incumbent treasurer, will be unopposed on the ballot for the March 10 election.

In Cedar Lake Township, two incumbents have filed for office and are unopposed. They are supervisor Norm Sticha and treasurer Karen Tupy.

The situation is the same in Wheatland Township, where supervisor Diane Johnson and treasurer Gary Bruegenthies are unopposed.

In Derrynane Township, incumbent treasurer Peter Nytes and supervisor Eric Tye are running unopposed.

The Webster Township clerk could not be reached at press time.
