New Prague City Council reorganizes for 2010

The New Prague City Council reorganized for the new year as it approved several appointments for 2010.

During its Tuesday, Jan. 5, meeting the council appointed Council Member Kay Wilcox as council vice-president, Scott Riggs of Kennedy & Graven as city attorney, and Community Security Bank, Community Security Financial Services, State Bank of New Prague, US Bank of New Prague, Wells Fargo Bank of New Prague and Wells Fargo Investments of New Prague as official depositories. The New Prague Times was designated as official newspaper.

Except for the New Prague Fire Department, the heads of the city's departments were appointed with no changes. The appointment of the fire department was put off to the Tuesday, Jan. 19, meeting as the department was holding elections on January 5.

Appointments of council representation to the city's boards and commissions remained unchanged. Council Member Mark Bartusek will be on the Utility Commission, Cedar Lake Sanitary District and Joint Powers, which includes representatives from the city and New Prague Area School District. Wilcox will be on the Park Board and Planning Commission. Council Member Ken Betterton will be on the Golf Board. Mayor W.A. Bink Bender and Council Member Kristin Guerrette will be on the Economic Development Authority. Guerrette is an alternate for the Scott County Transit Review Board with City Planner Renee Christianson representing the city.
