New Prague High School sports update

Cross Country

The New Prague boys and girls cross country teams ran at the Section 2AA meet in Willmar Thursday, Oct. 29.

The Trojan girls finished fourth of 14 teams. Shakopee won the meet with 80 points, while Chanhassen finished second with 105. The top two teams advance to the state meet. Buffalo was third with 110 and the Trojans had 121. New Prague sophomore Molly Wick qualified for her second straight state tournament berth, finishing sixth. The state cross country meet will be at St. Olaf College in Northfield Saturday, Nov. 7.

In the boys race New Prague finished 13th of 14 teams. Willmar and Mankato East advanced to the state meet.


Volleyball

The New Prague volleyball team ended its season in the first round of the Section 2AAA playoffs Wednesday, Oct. 28, losing in four games to Minnetonka at New Prague. Scores were 25-19, 15-25, 25-23, 25-21. Minnetonka faces Chaska on Friday, Oct. 30


Football

The Trojan football team hosts Faribault at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 in the Section 1AAAA semifinals. New Prague defeated Red Wing Tuesday, Oct. 27, by a 35-7 score. The other semifinal has Austin at Northfield. The championship game will be Friday, Nov. 6.
