New Prague Historical Society will receive replica of clipper ship ‘Bohemia’

On Saturday, April 30, at 11 a.m. the New Prague Historical Society will receive a replica of a clipper ship called the Bohemia.

Richard Reisdorf, who took more than three years to create the replica, will present the ship at the New Prague Public Library. Reisdorf researched the history and the plans of the ship in preparation for building the model.

The original Bohemia was built in 1875 and had a long history, being used for a variety of items. It was first used to haul grain for long distance voyages to such cities as New York, Liverpool and San Francisco. The Alaska Packers Association used the ship for salmon fishing until 1925. Eventually it was sold to Hollywood and was used in such movie productions as The Yankee Clipper
