New Prague man killed in bicycle crash

A New Prague man was killed Saturday, June 17, when the bicycle he was riding collided with a vehicle on State Highway 25 in Sibley County, west of Belle Plaine
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Phillip Andrew Ilg, 56, was westbound on his bicycle on Highway 25 in Faxon Township when he was struck by a 2002 Ford Explorer, which was also westbound, being driven by a 16-year-old female. Ilg reportedly was dead on the scene. 
The crash occurred around 7:36 a.m. The State Patrol, Sibley County Sheriff’s Office and Belle Plaine Fire Department all responded to the crash.
