New Prague resident honored for three decades of volunteerism

George Mikiska of New Prague was recently honored by Opportunity Partners for his three decades of giving to the organization.

Opportunity Partners is a Twin Cities nonprofit organization serving people with disabilities. Mikiska is a longtime member of the group's Board of Directors and a volunteer.

Mikiska, who worked in accounting, became involved with Opportunity Partners (then called Opportunity Workshop) in 1977. He originally got a call to help evaluate accounting systems at Opportunity Partners on a volunteer basis.
