New Prague Schools creating intruder video

New Prague Police squad cars rushing up to New Prague High School with lights blazing. Students running out of the high school. A man in a black hood intently walking up to the school. Those happened on Tuesday, April 11, at the high school but they were all scenes for an instructional video the New Prague Area School District is working on about what to do if an intruder enters the building. With no school on Tuesday, they were able to make the video that will be ready by this fall.

Director of Educational Services Tony Buthe explained the video will be used to educate and train district staff, teachers, secondary students and their parents about what to do in such a situation. The school district is working with Captivate Media + Consulting of Eden Prairie to make a professional video. Helping were New Prague Police Officers John Madigan and Dean Duban. Portraying the intruder was Eric Madigan, a graduate of New Prague High School and Officer Madigan’s son. There were 12 students volunteering and Director of Curriculum and Instruction Maren Bahler acted as the teacher in the video.
