New Prague Schools may close open enrollment

New Prague Area Schools may close to open enrollment as early as October 1.

The New Prague Area School Board discussed its options regarding open enrollment during its August 23 meeting at New Prague Middle School. The board had briefly discussed the matter at its previous meeting and continued the discussion during the Committee of the Whole portion of Monday's meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Frankie Poplau said the administration had no recommendation on the subject, saying it was up to the board to decide how to proceed.

As of Monday, projected enrollment in the district was 3,060 students, which is more than 140 above the budgeted amount. We had 10 more students enrolling today
