New Prague takes 2nd at True Team state meet
New Prague High School's girls gymnastics team finished second in the State Class A True Team State meet held Saturday, Jan. 27, at the New Prague Gymnastics Center.
Earlier in the week, the Trojans defeated Red Wing and Prior Lake in Missota Conference competition.
New Prague was scheduled to host Northfield in a meet Tuesday. The Raiders are the only team to beat New Prague this season in a dual meet. Their next meet will be Tuesday, Feb. 6, with Mound-Westonka and Red Wing scheduled to compete. The Trojans will travel to Northfield for the Missota Conference Championships Friday, Feb. 9.
True team meet
Ten of the top teams from around the state competed in the State Class A True Team meet, with No. 1-ranked Perham coming out on top with a score of 182.25. The True Team meet takes the total of all five gymnasts' scores, rather than just the top four as is done in other meets.
The Trojans finished nearly five points behind the champion Yellowjackets, with a score of 177.5. Detroit Lakes was third at 176.425, followed by Becker (175.55), Mound-Westonka (175.425), Monticello (172.175), Pine Island (170.35), New London-Spicer (166.225), Martin County West (165.3) and New Ulm (163.125).
