New Prague Utilities announces essay scholarship program
The New Prague Utilities Commission (NPUC) and the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) are sponsoring a scholarship program. A total of $2,750 will be split four ways. The local winner of the essay contest will be awarded a $500 scholarship from the NPUC. The local winner will then be eligible for the statewide fund with scholarships offered in the amounts of: $1,000, $750 and $500 awarded to the top three finishers.
High school seniors are eligible. Those eligible must be, or have as a legal guardian, a customer of the NPUC. Relatives of NPUC personnel are generally not eligible.
Entries of the essay contest are to interpret one or more aspects of the theme, Municipal Utilities: Good for all of us.” This applies to municipal electric and/or natural gas utilities. Judges will look particularly for the relevance of the theme to the writer and his/her utility.
