Nine running for Elko New Market Council

History will be made during the general election on November 7 when the first Elko New Market City Council is elected. In a referendum earlier this year, the two cities in southeastern Scott County agreed to merge, effective January 1, 2007.

Nine people have filed for the five spots on the council that includes the position of mayor and four council members.
