No. 1 KM stops Trojans

No. 1-ranked Kasson-Mantorville defeated New Prague 37-18 in the semifinals of the State Class AA wrestling tournament Thursday afternoon in St. Paul. 

The KoMets will wrestled Simley in the championship match at 7 p.m. New Prague will face Foley at 5 p.m. for third place. 

Kasson-Mantorville jumped to a 20-3 lead, with Griffin Parriott getting the only early win for the Trojans, on a 4-2 decision at 120 pounds. The Trojans won four straight decisions, by Morgan Parriott (145), Joe Heinz (152) Richard Reinartz (160) and Logan Giles (170). But New Prague would win only one more match, a decision by Nathan Preston at 220.
