Norbert Neisen, 82

Norbert Neisen, 82, of Watertown, SD, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at his home.

Norbert Mathias Neisen, the son of John C. and Gertrude (Gerardy) Neisen, was born on March 25, 1925, at Union Hill. His mother passed away in 1932 and he and his siblings were orphaned in 1933 when their father drowned in Lake Kampeska. Norb then made his home with his uncle and aunt, Matt and Lena Langenfeld in Watertown. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and Watertown High School. Upon graduation in 1943, he entered the United States Army Air Corps and served in the European Theater as a nose gunner in B-24's. After completing 46 successful bombing missions he was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned to South Dakota. On September 19, 1946 he married Mary Ann Miller at Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown. Norb attended South Dakota State University, the Nettleton Business College and the Academy of Accounting in Minneapolis. He joined Russell Brown, M.D. on April 1, 1950 as a clinic business manager and held that position with Brown Clinic until he retired in 1987.

He is survived by a brother John Langenfeld, Rapid City, SD; a sister, Helen (Neisen) Weiers, Union Hill; four sons James (Gayle) Neisen, Rapid City, SD, Thomas Neisen, Spearfish, SD, John (Francia) Neisen, Peoria, AZ and Andrew (Kristy) Langenfeld, Alexandria; two daughters Ann (Todd) Lauseng, Watertown and Patricia (Vincent) Foley, Watertown; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his aunt and uncle; eight brothers Ted Neisen, Alfred Neisen, John Neisen, Matt Langenfeld Jr., Judd Langenfeld, Butch Langenfeld, Bill Langenfeld and Joe Langenfeld; and six sisters Pauline (Neisen) Schindle, Frances Langenfeld, Verena (Langenfeld) Vossberg, Monica (Langenfeld) Lamoureaux, Vivian (Langenfeld) Clarke and Dolores (Langenfeld) Verschoor.

The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown.

Visitation was held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Wight, Comes and Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
